Privacy Policy 

The Salvation Army Consent to Sharing Information 2025

 

The Salvation Army collects and uses personal information to support clients’ request for assistance for our Foodbank program. We collect information directly from you through the intake process. To better understand your needs and those of others we serve, we may contact you to conduct surveys.
 
Once collected personal information may be stored at the location where you access services, in the Link2Feed database, and on Salvation Army servers at other locations. We use your information to communicate with you through text messages, e-mail, and telephone conversations.
 
To minimize duplication of services, we may collect from or disclose your information to other food banks. We will seek further consent from you to share your information with other organizations. Disclosure of your information may also occur if The Salvation Army believes in good faith that the law requires it. This may occur where there is a court order or a risk of harm to yourself or others, including elderly persons or minors.
 
You have the right to receive a copy of the information that The Salvation Army has about you or your dependents, to correct mistakes in that information, and to withdraw consent to further collection, use and disclosure of your personal information by The Salvation Army. Withdrawal of consent will not impact your ability to receive assistance.
 
If you have questions, concerns, or a complaint about the handling your personal information, discuss them with the Salvation Army representative at the location where you are being served or ask for the contact information of the Privacy Officer of The Salvation Army. You may request a copy of The Salvation Army Privacy Policy at any time.

 

No Cost Food Policy 

The Salvation Army Chilliwack - A Commitment to No Cost Food Access 

  1. Purpose

The purpose of this document is to ensure that The Chilliwack Food Bank maintains its commitment to providing no cost food access to those in need within our community, while fulfilling our Mission, Vision and Values. (Hope, Service, Dignity and Stewardship)

  1. No Financial Cost

Chilliwack Food Bank is committed that all food-support services provided by our food bank are offered at no financial cost to our clients, and that access to these services should not be hindered by financial restrictions, including means testing.

  1. No Conditional Requirements

Access to our food-support services is not tied to any conditions.

  1. Non-Discrimination

Chilliwack Food Bank is committed to providing services without discrimination. We serve all individuals in need, regardless of their race, ethnicity, color, gender, religion, age, disability, or sexual orientation.

  1. Confidentiality

We respect the privacy of all individuals who seek assistance from Chilliwack Food Bank. All staff and volunteers are trained in confidentiality, and personal information will be handled in accordance with our organizational privacy policy.

Ethical Food Banking Code  

The Salvation Army Chilliwack's Commitment to the Ethical Foodbanking Code as published by Food Banks Canada.

 THE ETHICAL FOODBANKING CODE

Food Banks Canada, the provincial associations, and affiliate food banks/programs will:

  1. Provide food and other assistance to those needing help regardless of race, national or ethnic origin, citizenship, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, income source, age, and mental or physical ability.
  2. Treat all those who access services with the utmost dignity and respect. 
  3. Implement best practices in the proper and safe storage and handling of food.
  4. Respect the privacy of those served and will maintain the confidentiality of personal information.
  5. Not sell donated food.
  6. Acquire and share food in a spirit of cooperation with other food banks and food programs.
  7. Strive to make the public aware of the existence of hunger and of the factors that contribute to it.
  8. Recognize that food banks are not a viable long-term response to hunger and devote part of their activities to reducing the need for food assistance.
  9. Represent accurately, honestly, and completely their respective mission and activities to the larger community.
